Stirling Engine

ENGS 25 - Introduction to Thermodynamics

I worked on this project 2.5 hours per week, for 10 weeks. Every week, I machined a new part in the Thayer Machine Shop, ultimately assembling the overall engine. The engine was tested for speed, power output, and efficiency.

SKILL DEVELOPED

- Construction: from SolidWorks drawings (terms and symbols included) and manual instructions

- Safety Training: working with heavy machinery

- Machinery Operation: worked mostly with lathes and mills

REFLECTION

This project gave me experience in multi-tasking and project completion. Although the engine was not due early in the course, I still had to dedicate time to it, making me work efficiently and consistently. I've used this experience to better my time management skills in other aspects of life.
